  •  Southern OH... (10+ / 0-)

is very Southern-leaning. The area along the Ohio River, from east to west, is very conservative and very hard-hit by the decade-long recession we have endured during the previous administration, which sadly continues. Sigh. Some people, it would seem, would rather be poor than vote for a Democrat. These folks are difficult but NOT impossible to win over - the Obama candidacy did win over some but as in WVa, not quite enough.
Fisher can make a populist pitch in these areas and win plenty of voters, but will he? Remains to be seen. I wish I could be more hopeful.
I do hope you get some rest soon, and do enjoy those violin lessons/practices. I played violin and piano in school and I think my parents jumped up and down behind closed doors when I stopped the violin and just went with the piano. ;)

    •  And yet the two districts (5+ / 0-)

that sprawl through that area, 6 and 18, both elected Democrats (Blue Dogs, admittedly) while being gerrymandered to be safe Republican. So you never know. Plenty of those southern counties are surprisingly Democratic; they just aren't very populous.

Time to garden and kick Republican ass.
