Ignorant people go to jail and informed people don't. It's about who you know and what you know when it comes to punishment, not about what you did. I sense that you are content with that. I am not.

Stupidity is far different from ignorance.

As to the who you know aspect, that has very little to do with potential punishments.  Money, on the other hand, does have a tendency of having to much of an impact.  However, as the seriousness of the crime increases, money as a factor tends to decrease.  Not always as much as I would like, but it is rare that simply having wealth will allow you get away with committing murder.

What it comes down to is if you commit the crime, I hope you get caught and I hope you get the just punishment administered.  There are rules of society and far too many people think that they only apply to others.  Cops have to operate within those rules as well.  If they don't, then they should be punished.

Yes, some of the rules and laws overly harsh in my opinion?  And some are overly lax, and some are not enforced to my liking.  Which is why I work with others to make changes in them and the system as a whole.  Somehow, I sense that you would be more content if certain sets of people would be allowed to break laws with impunity.

A person's character is measured by how they treat everyone. Not just your pet group.

murder and Rape. Like the ex football star dude who led the famous car chase and that Kennedy family member who was not convicted of rape after some frolic at the Palm Beach estate? I don't recall there names but that's just two well known ones that leap to mind.

In many murders there is no DNA evidence so we can't prove how many innocent guys are in jail but there are damn few wealthy ones.
