      And a blank slate is not good enough.

      She could be a Justice Kennedy-style "moderate" (Kennedy was the key fifth vote in this ruling). Though all it would take to move this court further to the right is that she be a Breyer-like centrist.

      At any rate, with a Democratic President, a large Democratic Senate majority, a deeply divided court, and the leftmost Justice (who happens to be a moderate Republican) resigning, blank slate is simply not good enough.

      We should kill this nomination.

        move further to the right under any circumstances.  While I really don't have enough info on Kagan to judge her one way or the other, I'd prefer a nominee whose viewpoints I can judge.
