that DO work and they've known that since Day 1.  That's why they started drilling them then....2, in case the first one missed, which has happened.

That is why YOU need to get a letter together to all of your congresscritters and ask them to please write a new law that makes those kill bores mandatory at the time of the well drilling.

YOU may also ask that acoustic shut-off valves also be made mandatory.

All this other stuff they are doing is experimental.  We've known that all along.  Since the only definitive answer is the kill bore, why not try this and that and see if it works?  If nothing else, some NEW research may come out of this....some perfected methods for doing these highly technical procedures.  Hell, maybe a new billionaire will be born with ideas for how to clean up the oil (we've seen lots and lots of great ideas).

In the meantime, let them try anything and everything to shut the damn thing up.

I have said this for about three weeks on other sites. The disconnect is that govt approved all these oil spill plans for decades (I would guess) that had the three month or longer (varies by depth)period for the relief well solution.

somehow the govt thought that the public would have the patience to wait that long, while all that destruction occurs. We have about ten days of patience. (and the drillers thought that an unconstrained gusher would be acceptable for the same three month period-- geez.)

and BP has completely blown this by giving optimistic success percentages on what are first time engineering experiments before the relief wells and cementing are done.
