For example, I probably just burned more oil during my flight to Europe than I saved all year walking and riding my bike.

on research relating to (as many of you know) applying theories of capabilities approach (Sen) used in sustainable bottom up models of develoment in LDCs and the concept of 'learned helplessness" (or is it hopelessness) in 4WCs  ctries like US.... and finding the impetus which will move us into the streets and off our laptops and iphones .... using apps to motivate behavior, using street theater  tapping into flow theory and intrinsic motivators, shortcharged methods of rewiring the brain... one of my thoughts lately is that perhaps the brevity of the context, the rapid fire 'content deprived' interactions now afforded us through technology might actually work to our advantage if we can figure out how to trigger movement as opposed to the addiction can be transformed from the addiction to the medium to the addiction to the 'adrenaline rush' of real world engagement ... that the lack of content can be a motivator to elicit the response within the collective psyche of activism to find true meaning (secondary capacities).... a tad convoluted to express as i am in mulling stage right now but am noticing more and more (see MSF's new campaign. the focus on ACT....

Engaging local theater ... having a meeting next week with some theater people I know and local schools working with cultural anthropology and

      much much more to come

we've got to use our technology to get people back into real life interaction, yes, theater, art, music, hell, just picnics in the street. For if we use technology only for the sake of creating ever more technology we won't deal with the root of the problem.

Keep me posted as your thoughts "congeal" ;-)
