  •  I saw this on the local news too (18+ / 0-)

You left out Racketeering. He's being charged with that too IIRC.

Unlike you I dont think it will taint Crist much.

IIRC Crist was the one who "welcomed" the federal investigation leading to much speculation that it was his way of damaging Rubio in the GOP primary (which he was still a contender in at the time).  In fact, I remember people here speculating that it was the reason Crist seemed so unconcerned about his dropping numbers and hadn't yet switched parties: because he had major dirt on Rubio and others like Mccollum and that his strategy was probably going to be "drip drip drip".

I remember Crist "urging" Greer to "set down".

I'm not sure it'll have much effect on Crist other than the fact that IF Rubio can be drawn deeply into it (and i expect that Greer will decide he wants to "talk") some (not all) but SOME of Rubio's support will shift to Crist. OR It makes Crist's support among the GOP that he has retained more solid.  Neither is a good proposition for our side.

But he also was the one to ask him to step up in the first place. Like I noted here, Rubio was one of the guys using the GOP AmEx card, so he will get some draft from this, but Greer had backed Crist in the primary and was practically appointed to the job of RPOF chair (which is what normally happens for the state party of whoever hold's the governor's post).

Of course, I'd love for this to hurt both of them. But I haven't been impressed with Kendrick Meek's spin machine thus far.

If Crist can be tainted because someone he hired/appointed did unscrupulous things, Meek will want to NOT open that line of attack.

        I'm just sayin.

If they have something directly on Crist, yes. It will hurt Crist. They have something on Rubio which so far, he's survived. More could be forthcoming all around.

But if we're going to start a discussion about how unethically or illegally someone appointed by Crist behaved...

If I said that wrong, my bad.

The distinction is important because Crist used his political sway to rally support for Greer to get him elected as RPOF chair. I think that will leave a sting with many of Crist's allies as the party goes through an embarrassing and public scandal.

i'm not sure I would necessarily connect bad acts done by people that any politician once supported to mean that they knew or were directly involved or endorsed the behavior.

that's just a road I wouldn't want to tread down.

I had enough of "guilt by association" during the democratic primary of 2008.  Unless Crist knew about this behavior, I just don't see why it's a big deal that he advocated for Greer to get the job unless he already knew Greer was a crook.

I'm just saying, I am not sure I'm comfortable with holding everyone accountable for the actions and behaviors of people they know or trust when those people are found to do or say awful things. Its what they TRIED to do to Obama WRT Ayers and Jeremiah Wright and I thought it was silly then. Og course, democrate never seem to "get away with it" whenever se associate with someone who at some later point ends up to be scum but...IOKIYAR, I guess.

            We'll see.
