investigate the Florida Republican party. Why is there no mention of this fact in your diary hmmmm....

TALLAHASSEE --  Gov. Charlie Crist asked federal authorities Friday to investigate the Republican Party of Florida amid growing concerns about secret deals and misspent money.

``It's a mess,'' he said. ``This thing stinks.''

In an interview, Crist said the U.S. attorney's office needs to take over the criminal investigation of former Chairman Jim Greer and examine the use of party credit cards by top GOP lawmakers.

it was reported months ago that Crist, Greer and other GOPers were being investigated by the FBI and IRS so Crist is just trying to save his own ass by turning against his long time friends and associates.

Crist will probably be indicted too when his buddy Greer turns states evidence against him so he's trying to kiss some ass first. I love it when these liars get their just deserts and Crist is one of the worst scunbags in politics.

    •  This arrest has nothing to do with that (2+ / 0-)

      These are state charges.

      But why does this matter?

From that linked article dated April 4, 2010:  C

rist's call for federal intervention followed a similar request from Florida Chief Financial officer Alex Sink in a letter to the state attorney general Friday.
      ...
For Crist, his statements represent a reversal from his ardent support of Greer, who he handpicked for the chairmanship and supported to the end, despite demands dating back to December for Greer's dismissal and a thorough investigation.

I give Crist no credit for calling for a Federal investigation, just as I give him no credit for vetoing SB6.  In both cases, he waited as long as possible before doing the right thing.

And now as an independent, he is being given accolades because he has been freed from his chains and is vetoing bad Republican bills.  I give him no credit for that either--he would have shown real courage if he had vetoed bad Republican bills when he was still a Republican.

Crist is an excellent politician, but he is not a leader and he has never shown any courage.
