  •  I don't know about that last part... (7+ / 0-)

But I thought of Jude in the middle of the first "fucking proper fucking booming" diary.  "Self," I thought, "this guy really needs to get together with Jude and Kristy at the nearest watering hole."

A Jude story - because I really need to smile at something.

The last class we took together was a central European history class.  I took it as a grad, Jude as an undergrad.  We sat together, as we'd been well acquainted before the first day.  The prof, who had taught us both before, walked in, looked at our row, and started laughing and shaking her head.  We asked why.  She said she'd give us a couple of weeks but she anticipated having to split us up.

After midterm, and after Jude had taught me how to curse exquisitely in Russian and Korean (he was in subs near enough both countries to develop an interest in the language) the prof interrupted a lengthy, dry, and very quiet riff Jude was doing before class on Tito's dyspepsia with a barely restrained yell of "Jude, over there.  Kristy, over that way.  And don't you talk to each other at all!"

Split up in class. But damn, if it wasn't worth it.

If history and science have taught us anything, it is that passion and desire are not the same as truth. E.O. Wilson
