I was reading the document about the dispersant group and that was one of their recommendations as well - to have a central database for all the myriad data from myriad researchers.

One thing about this damn spill is that I can see the possibility of a lot of jobs for a lot of people in the future, provided the government acts to fix our broken system(s). I'm really hoping we come out of this with a vastly improved and National Response Plan (not to mention a great green energy policy).

We absolutely have to. I do not see how there is any option that makes any kind of logical, nevermind ethical, sense.

The Exxon Valdez was lots of sound without much lasting heat, in a faraway (and oil-bought) state with an entire population equal to metropolitan Nashville. In addition to the Gulf's massive commercial fishing industry, we have 4 states worth of politicians and newscasters, beachfront properties, resorts, casinos, recreational boaters and fishers, restaurants, hotels, recreational beaches, and state parks; and a combined population of ~46 million people.

Yepper, I expect this will finally spark an improved NRP.

        ;)
