and just about as self-defeating as human behavior gets.

    He's mentally ill.

Today alone, I had instances where in my opinion 3 instances of reckless endangerment with a motor vehicle. Today was a doozy. Most days it's none. Once in a while, I'll have two.

These people are not mentally ill.
      They are just assholes.

A *$10,000* fine for seeing what I saw today from each of those idiots is in order.

But this guy drove up on sidewalks to get at these people riding bikes, so in this case, I think a person can be an asshole and mentally ill, too.

      •  he may be nuts but he's still a criminal. (7+ / 0-)

Four counts of assault with a motor vehicle with intent to do great bodily harm.

If each count is worth five years, he's looking at 20 years, at least.

And of course he'll never drive again.

from Atlanta to Charlotte today and I was nearly killed 3 times by Truck Nutz.  Those guys just can't bear to be behind a girl driving a small energy efficient vehicle -- they have to get around you, even you're going 80 in a 65 or if traffic is gridlocked and there's nowhere for them to get to.

The rage people have stored up in this country is something else.

It turns the nicest people into maniacs.

I also love calling in the tag numbers of assholes who "seem to be drunk". The trooper will find out, for sure.

I used to commute by bike in Baltimore city, at night. When drunks would try to play "chicken", I'd whip out my nightstick. More than once, I whacked a headlight, fender, or corner of a windshield. The dickheads were so shocked, I never got shot at.

It never hurts to show troglodytes that being "green" does not preclude being an ass-kicking lunatic.

I'm thinking of the expression "road rage." What's that about? Probably, there are a number of explanations. One thing I believe road rage signifies is the decline of civility in this culture, an "every-man-for-himself" ethic totally taking over in public.

Every single man who pulls in front of you and puts on his brakes, or speeds up to keep you from getting into a lane, well, he's angry, because his wife has thrown him out, and changed the locks on him. Or he can't get laid. Or he's unemployed. Or is diabetic, and can't get his blood sugar under control. Or...

Like any of this is your fault.
