  •  Then that's not good. (11+ / 0-)

    If they're building a better #4, that'd be okay.

#6 or #9.... good. Build them fuckers.

If they fuck with this one, continually making imaginary adjustments and waiting 48 hours to see if it works... fuck no. Not gonna get it.

It rubs the loofah on its skin or else it gets the falafel again.

    •  Gonna be tough to make that call (7+ / 0-)

They've got good proof of concept, as Tomtech pointed out.
It's gonna be really tough to discern small incremental improvement from just w@cking around- esp in 48 hour increments.

I mean, honestly, I want them to keep tweaking this thing until it's as good as it can possibly be... and I've got a lotta respect for the guys who are actually designing, fabbing, and installing these things. ( Their bosses continue to be asshats, but we've all been there.) I don't see those guys moving like this for no good reason, and if anybody knows likely near-term, it's the guys who are bolting this shit together. So that seems positive.

On the other hand, a complete lack of activity, coupled w/ BPs corporate structure move today, would probably lead to confrontation, which BP is avoiding pretty hard these days. ( And I don't blame them. Folks are pissed. Like threat to personal security pissed.)

      So progress or puppetshow?

I don't think we can tell for maybe two BP units.

      •  no wonder my heart and head hurt (4+ / 0-)

I don't think we can tell for maybe two BP units.

we're living inside yet another Friedman unit - "we're really going to have to turn this thing around in about the next six months, Charlie, or else we'll find out it's time to admit we have to change the way we approach this issue."

the theoretical paradox-problem with the Friedman Unit is that by definition it always must be connected at one end to the previous Friedman Unit and at the other end by the next Friedman Unit: therefore, six months = infinity.

we can be forgiven for thinking the BP Unit is merely a smaller fraction of the Friedman Unit -in other words a smaller segment of an infinity that cannot be divided. another (sad) paradox

small comfort to the crustaceans, fish, mammals, sponges, reeds, kelp, birds, plankton et al.

Hope is, after all, the currency of popular politics, and a coin surprisingly hard to devalue. -- Fred Anderson, Crucible of War

        Mississippi.

        Alabama.

        Slopped.

If they're still fucking around without showing progress, no telling what will happen. Nothing good for BP.
