if the plastic toys that come in our child's meal has cadmium in it.

i just assume they do and don't buy them.

    •  Excellent point we rarely think about. (4+ / 0-)

We put all sorts of food in our mouths out of trust that it won't be toxic or poisoned, ame for drugs and beverages,  all sorts of products on our skin and hair, inummerable cleaning products, clothing, hospitals, cars, we risk our lives thousands of times a day on trust.   Usually it works out.   Sometimes it doesn't.   We could not function without trusting industries.  And we trust the government is regulating them, someone is checking this stuff out.  In reality, most regulation has been gutted by a lack of enforcement dollars even if the rules were left intact.   We are probably a nation of fools.  But I guess I wouldn't survive the paranoia if I didn't suppress the ideas.

If you're surrounded by major crises, sometimes you overlook the stuff that isn't a crisis just yet.

If the kitchen is on fire, and a cat is running up your pants leg with fully extended claws, you might just miss the fact that one of your children is over in the corner quietly eating crayons.

        Just sayin'.

belongs to the author at Rolling Stone -- not this diarist.  And are you saying only the President should be aware of what corporations to trust?  Hilarious.

        •  No (0+ / 0-)

But only a President and the government is in a position to truly monitor them and ensure the proper regulations are in place and that they are being enforced. It's called 'governing' and it is the job of the 'government'.

Hilarious no, but your response is laughable. I would think most Kossacks have a healthy distrust for many corporations.

inre 'original diary' I meant to say article. My bad, all slagging on this front duly accepted
