    oil is a form of energy storage, oil is not energy.  Energy exists all around us, we need a better way to store energy than oil.  

    Ethanol is an example of a way to store solar energy. i.e., you grow sugarcane (which is the most efficient plant at storing solar energy) which is then converted to ethanol.  Sugar is a form of energy storage that was instrumental to the industrial revolution--sugar allowed individuals to consume more calories that they could then be converted to work.  Lithium will allow us to store different forms of wind and solar energy.  

    Also, we will be able to use old auto lithium batteries to store wind and solar energy in the very near future.
