      and I don't begrudge people getting raises.. but it's the appearance that rankles a lot of voters.

      They see a protected class of workers.. public workers.. backed by strong unions.. who are not only not willingly taking cuts/furloughs/freezes, but who have the chutzpah to demand raises in some cases!

        government and they DID accept furloughs to help prevent job losses for their co-workers and they DID take a pay-freeze and they ARE union workers protecting their own and also trying not to be hard-nosed to an already struggling state economy.  Stop the union bashing....I firmly believe unions have built the middle class in this country and the loss of unions means the loss of the middle class.  That will make a huge economic divide between the rich and the poor.  I don't want to see that - do you?
