  •  A Few Suggestions, Mr. Frank (0+ / 0-)

Over $100 billion in savings by cutting unnecessary command, support and infrastructure funding.

There's already not enough money for these things basically because of the upper chain of command.  The lower chain already gets crumbs.  There's big screen TVs in places they don't need to be, desks and chairs thrown away because the new person doesn't like what the old person had, all sorts of accommodations and $$ for the uppers.  What they want, they get.  Meanwhile, the lowers are working with equipment that doesn't work right, with no money to buy the parts to repair them.  They have to fight to get light bulbs, for God's sake.  Yes, some money could be cut, but it needs to be fixed where the money goes to the lowers first, then the uppers can have the crumbs for a change.  When was the last time any of you talked to someone in the lower chain of command, if ever?

Second, why are we moving every four or six years?  We've all found "home" at least once in our careers, where there's ample opportunity to switch from sea to shore, and keep the friends, adult and children, but no, can't have us staying in the same place, gotta make us move.  How much do those moves cost the military?  How much does the military pay out for all the stuff that got broken during the moves?

And hey, let's spend millions building a base, oh, say in Ingleside, Texas, and then spend more millions closing it down after about 15 years.

And how much is being spent on Halliburton and Blackwater/Xe, etc., with their contractors doing the same jobs as the military yet making more money?  How about cutting their budgets? And you and your buddies, republican and democrat, let this happen because they donate to your campaigns.  Otherwise called bribery.

Congress is the reason the military budget is too high.  Y'all are too chicken shit to tell a congressman/senator, NO you can't have that, because you know it's going to come back to bite you in the ass when one of YOUR donors wants military money to waste on, say, new uniforms that can't be washed on ships because the washers tear them up.

Good luck, Mr. Frank.  But I'm not going to hold my breath.
