I don't get enough, but on the other hand I'm old enough to remember Jim Fixx.

Any excuse is mine..I'm not overweight, I do eat well..and you are of course absolutely correct. We all need reminders.

    •  Who's Jim Fixx? (6+ / 0-)

Sorry, couldn't resist. I'm barely old enough to remember him.  I was a young kid in the 70's and I remember people talking about this weird thing called "jogging" and my mom taking up tennis to "keep fit."

I know I need to do more weight training. The problem is, weight training is boring. Unless you have to pal to train with. But I don't. So it's boring. I'll be happy to walk/jog several miles, spend a hour on the elliptical, exercise to aerobics and dance vids. But weight training? Boring.

Thankfully I have a kindred spirit in the form of a fitness guru: Ellen Barrett.  I love her videos. It's all continuous movement that incorporates several muscle groups at once. Some include movements using weights, some don't, but they all focus on muscle toning. A lot of upper body work too. She doesn't go easy on us girls. I have five of her vids, and my fav two are Fat-Burning Fusion and  Skinny Sculpt. I also love that you can do her workouts barefoot. Granted she targets women for her workouts, but there's nothing in these vids that wouldn't be super beneficial for a man as well, if he's secure enough to do pilates and ballet moves. ;)
