  •  old Salvadorean Refugee song (5+ / 0-)

    "Vuela, vuela pajarita,
    Vuela, a tu palomar,
Mira, que la vida es triste,
Con tu contar, me allegre corazon,
Con tu trinar, con tu contar,
La mal noche, y se va."

Somewhere around here I have a cassette tape I bought from some musicians in Los Angeles who came by and did a concert, in the early mid 80's I think. On the beach. On the pier, I think? I heard later that the CIA might have been photographing the audience, me included, out there listening to these great musicians from south of the USA border.

    My then-boyfriend and I bought a cassette.

I probably still have that cassette around here somewhere. I really should get a cassette player again.

My boyfriend, who got lost, translated this wonderfully, back in the 80's.

    "Fly, fly away little bird
    Fly, from your nest
    See, how sad life is
With your song, you bring joy into my life,
With your trill, and with your song,
    The evil night will pass."

These songs were recorded by El Salvadorean refugees. They were sadly but heroicly and honestly done.

    The evil night will pass.

"The concept of "library," can be applied to any product or service, not just books." - Jay
