And the people of Bethnal Green were perfectly right to show him the door a few months ago.

and showed those Iraq-war-loving bastards a thing to two.

"I was an opponent of Saddam Hussein when British and Americans governments and businessmen were selling him guns and gas. I used to demonstrate outside the Iraqi embassy when British and American officials were going in and doing commerce.

            This, on the other hand...

Yes, I did support the Soviet Union, and I think the disappearance of the Soviet Union is the biggest catastrophe of my life.

            So what I said stands.

The dissitegration of the soviet union has led to major wars and ethic cleansing all over eastern europe.  The poverty and hunger that those countries went through was major.  It also destabalized large regions of the world with a free for all in soviet weapons.

The soviet union, in the way that it disappeared, was a bad thing.

I will vote, but always with a caution that voting is not crucial, and organizing is the important thing.

creeps, let's talk about Schumer, who declared publicly that he wants to "strangle Gaza"....

        now that's a creep.

Have you seen this site?  It is a neat little site that allows people to boycott stuff from bad companies to horrible states like Arizona and Israel.  http://boy.co.tt/

        •  I don't need to be distracted by a strawman (0+ / 0-)

argument over Galloway's legitimacy to defend the position that Hamas is fucked up.

Hamas can be as fucked up as the Taliban or the Haredim.  It doesn't make collective punishment any more legitimate.  It doesn't change the fact that Israelis executed people.  It doesn't change the fact they killed an American and our government said "what's the big deal here?"

          •  you really know nothing (0+ / 0-)

about what is going on there. I would suggest a broader choice of reading materials. Or even asking some of them people posting here who have lived or worked in the region.

When the head of Mossad under Sharon disagrees with you is-a-vis Hamas, it's at least a signal that you might want to consider that you may be in error.

            •  Actually, funny you say that... (0+ / 0-)

I remember Avi Dichter explicitly telling Sharon that targeted killings was a bad idea and it would exacerbate the problems.  But they went ahead with it anyway.  That was before Ze'evi was killed, so this is awhile ago.

I think we agree that when Avi Dichter is telling you to tone it down, you are WAY over the line.  Having said that, Bibi makes Sharon seem moderate and Bibi makes the Haredim look moderate...so you're right.    Hamas should be next in line for the Nobel Prize.

              •  Hyperbole much? (0+ / 0-)

really, you ought to learn just a little bit more about  it.  It would rob you of your comic book villain, but your life would be a little richer for it. No one's saying Hamas is good, you'll have to be satisfied with just a normal amount of villainy and complexity rather than your "24" episode.

                •  that's a non sequitor (0+ / 0-)

but I guess that is all I am going to get here.
                  I'm out.

                  •  no it's not...Hamas for a Nobel isn't Hyperbole? (0+ / 0-)

Don;t be silly.  Your views of the actualities in the region are sketchy and based on the demonization of Palestinians generally and of Hamas particularly.  Hamas are not necessarily "good" people, but they did unilaterally stop suicide bombings (yes, there were at least one, possibly 2 violations of that in the ..4 years? 6 years?), they stopped the rocketing during the lull before cast lead even enforcing the ban with other militias in Gaza. They have enetered into agreements (and lived by them) to which Israel is signatory and so on.

Like some of the founders of Israel who started off as at the very best 'extra-legal' users of violence, Hamas, particularly since it is increasingly independent of the more hardline expatriot version of Meshaal, is evolving as this types of people often do.  And into something that can be worked with as Halevy said. Dichter was interested in two things. The political impact and the increased work he would have to do in the obvious aftermath of the targetted killings.

Now, this is juts the beginning of that discussion, but you';ll notcie there is very little here about wide-eyed islamo-fascist cartoon villains.  Hamas has cracked down on salafi jihadists, Hamas (after every single police station in Gaza was annihilated in cast lead and a whole graduating class of police executed by Israel) doesn't have total control of the strip. And in that vacuum (created by Israel) there are incidents. And there are alwys situations where Hamas is not going to lie down and accept what Israel wants it do do.

That's more of the reality. Now is your cue to mention an uninformed point on Shalit..or soemthing.
