  •  Here's the thing about Galt that's so hilarious (15+ / 0-)

He agreed to work under the condition that everything he invented would belong to the company, and the condition that his employer was free to change the pay package.

An At Will employee, the employer owning the patents on anything he invented.  Perfectly ordinary contract, of the sort Randroids think people should be free to enter into.

Nevermind that dude didn't read the fine print.  Under "Objectivism", that's his failing and he shouldn't be blaming anyone else.

Now, when the company (as is their right) decides to change the pay package, he quits.  That's fine.  No problem there.

But he then goes back and destroys what is now their intellectual property!! Which he was already paid for developing, under the terms he agreed too!!!.

John Galt was a fucking looter.

    •  Excellent point (7+ / 0-)

I have also read that horror show.  Why wasn't Galt condemned?  Just another one of the gaping holes in Rand's mess.

        Ayn Rand said so.

I have read both The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. But both over 30 years ago. I even went through a brief period when I was impressed with Rand as a philosopher. As an author, however, she is without a doubt one of the worst in history that has sold more than a few hundred books.

So I've long forgotten some of the "plot" points of both books. Do I now have to go through the torture of re-reading them or can I just accept that whatever the tea baggers think about Rand is wrong and continue to laugh at the "morans"?

Rand denied that Roark raped Dominique or that if he did she asked for it.  Lovely woman Rand.
