  •  Very strange... (none)
Connecticut -- great school system, solidly blue in national politics... How on earth to explain Liebermann?  Do they just not pay any attention to him?
    •  They have a senator with (none)
national clout, thats not something you toss out for a potentially weaker freshman.  Plus CT is very affluent, lending itself to a more centrist senator

      •  Interesting comment. (none)
Connecticut's affluent, so it gets a right-leaning senator... Mississippi and Alabama are poverty stricken, so they do too.  So who gets progressives? Anyone?

And as for hanging onto a senator just because he has clout -- That theory didn't save Daschle.

        •  maybe they (none)
just can't resist the Joementum!  Seriously though, that's just my attempt to explain it.  Every electorate is differetn and makes decisions for different reasons.  Look at Sen. Byrd.  God knows the democrats are no longer in power in w. virginia, yet they keep sending booby back to washington.  As long as a politician can keep his particular constituency happy, that's all that matters i guess.
