  •  I think the political risk (7+ / 0-)

is far less "significant" than the New York Times thinks. Hispanics will be over the moon; this will help lock them down as a Democratic base. And the teabaggers for whom this is a rallying point were NEVER going to vote for Obama no matter what he did. They hate him because of WHO he is, and if he went on national TV and said this was a great law and Arizona was doing the right thing, they'd find themselves another reason to attack him. Their so-called reasons don't make any sense, because their real reason is personal.

Time to garden and kick Republican ass.

it's O.K. to turn a blind eye to illegal immigration or actively oppose a State's effort to enforce Federal law simply because it could help lockdown the Hispanmic vote?

I wonder what other laws we can ignore to help lockdown other demographics?  Hey I got it - Legalize coke since there are a lot of crack dealers out there!

blind eye to illegal immigration. Passing an immigration law is saying we have a problem that must be dealt with, and this is the logical and fair way to deal with it.

I'm asking you to believe. Not in my ability to bring about real change in Washington...I'm asking you to believe in yours. - Barack Obama
