  •  Oh god, I have. I just took a sinking spell of (5+ / 0-)

longing. We used to have a camp (people from La. know what that means) right on Bayou Manchac. We would pile into that place, sunburned like no one dares to get now, and eat like maniacs!!! One of my friends got married at Middendorf's. Slammed w/memories. Wow! I was just about to write to you that we could go get some catfish at the Acme Cafe when you come up, which is okay. Now, that you mention Middendorf's I think I would be ashamed to take you to Acme Cafe.

It is the first time I ever ate catfish and enjoyed it. My husband is from NO and he took me on one of our first dates.  We always stop whenever we are headed to see his family.

good specials at the bar in the afternoon. It's not on a par w/even the most mediocre La. catfish place, though. I've seen that place on 23rd but have never eaten there. A good place is Delta Grill on 9th Avenue in the 40's. It feels Louisiana-like.
