    one thing I cannot fucking STAND about any MacOS is the lack of tinkering you can do to it. It's build behind this goddamned wall of drop-down menus and dumb icons.

    I like that wall.  It works just great for me, and I don't really want to be wasting much time tinkering to get the machine to work nicely.  That's one of the things that always pained me when I was trying out Linux - the sheer amount of work needed just to get desktops working nicely.  And even then they didn't work very nice.  And that was just 1.5 years ago.  I know KDE and Gnome are still making big strides, but I'm not really interested anymore.

    When Linux desktops have as nice a default wall of drop-down menus and icons as OS X does, so the great majority of people who would rather not tinker don't have to, that's when it'll be ready for the masses (and also when it gets Quicken/MS Money, and don't nobody go mentioning WINE).
