  •  HBO had a special on (9+ / 0-)

last night exposing the racism in Europe regarding Soccer.  They showed many clips of black players being pelted with bananas and being called racial slurs.  Apparently the Spanish and Italian fans are notorious for it.  Very sad.

publishing a press release announcing a three-year contract extension for one of its younger players. In the release, the player is referred to as a product of the club's own youth program. The young man himself is quoted as being proud to continue playing in his hometown. This is what he looks like:

Nowhere in the press release is his ancestry mentioned.

I just don't see how that negates my point?  FIFA needs to clean up their act.  From what I watched last night they are trying to do that and some matches have even been played with NO crowd allowed to watch because they were being punished for their racist crap.  For many years they allowed this nonsense in the stands up to and including Nazi flags being waved.

        •  It's not negating your point (0+ / 0-)

A lot of racist crap is flung around all over the place. But most of it comes from the fans and the press, not from the players or clubs.

          •  Funny you mention that (1+ / 0-)

One of the clips they played was a white player calling a black player "Dirty Monkey" right in front of a ref.  Nothing was done.
