    That was propaganda.

It pays to learn the difference. But here's a clue... when you see something hyped in the media, ask "Who benefits?" With the "buried weapons", it was easy... the hawks who wanted us to invade Iraq, for oil and political control. But with H1N1? The drug companies? Vaccination isn't big money, not on their scale. Figure out how to give a 60 year old guy a reliable erection, THAT'S big money.

No, the beneficiaries of H1N1 reaction were the human race, and nonprofit medical experts who believed they could save literally millions of lives. That makes FAR more sense than your economic conspiracy theory.

Fossil fuels are the reason you can sit comfortably in air conditioning and sneer at BP.

    •  Well, the vaccine (0+ / 0-)

makers sold a lot of vaccine. And health agencies got some extra funding. But the vaccines came too late to mitigate the infection itself, which I know in my state was past peak by the time we got a single dose - and those weren't available to the public.

So those of us who were going to get the flu got the flu. We either survived or died, and those who died were statistically about half the number who die of flu in a 'normal' flu season.

What probably helped the most was people's concern, and translation of that into compulsive hand-washing. Thus fewer people got sick.

Now, more than ever, we need the Jedi.
