  •  With everything the Republicans (4+ / 0-)

have done in the past eight years and still doing, I don't know why anyone would want them back in power.

    •  Opinions will be goaded and massaged on TV. (1+ / 0-)

Obama will be blamed, in a hundred ways, even senselessly, for all the nations' ills.  The Democrats, and Obama, will be pointed out to have sold out the left, and labor, and the working class, and the soldiers, by compromising away and reversing their campaign promises.  People will be left angry, feel betrayed, frighhtened because solutions keep slipping away, and the TV will point them to some face, maybe some general's face, or some other person to trust, someone strong, who can tackle the incalcitrant and corrupt insider congress.  Some will believe it and vote for Republicans.  Many others will just feel so impotent to affect change that they will, in disgust, simply stay home and not vote.

The calculated, corporate-friendly, relentless political marketing on TV is a huge part of the problem, I think.  People are either hypnotized or lobotomized or deflated by it, slowly, if they don't abandon it.  Try watching Chuck Todd in the morning.  It dessicates the brain cells.  Pushback from Shultz and Maddow and a few others just isn't enough yet to break the deadening spell.

Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night.
