I'll look forward to reading it.

I hear you on the difficulties... and it's not that the first MC isn't important. If I get my wish and can write a series (that someone will want to publish and real people want to read), the first MC is the common thread from book to book to book. He travels... and the protagonist in this book is the focus for most of it, but the first MC is the catalyst for the protagonist's adventure... the first MC has a mentor/guide kind of role even as he is a hero.

After all that I've read here about first books not making it, I'm worried that my inherent complexity will doom this attempt to the slush pile. But personally, it's a very compelling story, and I need to tell it. So, tell it I will, if only to see it splash and sink in various slush piles...

... the "slush pile" being the term for all manuscripts submitted by unpublished, unagented writers. Not just the stuff that gets rejected.

      She vocabularied waspishly.
