  •  The neighborhood has tripled in growth (5+ / 0-)

in the last twenty years. I lived in Noe Valley in the late 70s, early 80s. What was once a quiet street (24th) in SF, with shops and businesses is now a busy "village", with lots of restaurants, a Whole Foods, and more cars than this neighborhood and its narrow streets can handle.

There are also, since the dot com days many more affluent home owners who built these monstrous two and three-story floors onto their homes in the area, obstructing the view for their neighbors, and generally NIMBY.

What was once a small-town feel to the area has been replaced with a touristy-trendy mall, alot like Union Street. The loss of long-term, generationally established families has had a mixed effect on this community.

The project sounds good, but good luck with trying to get use of Noe Street for the community plaza. There are lots of merchants (this neighborhood has a strong merchants association) who may be working against it. Its about the access to their businesses and the parking.

Deepwater Spill: The fork in the road is HERE. Time to end addiction to cheap oil and make alternative energy our enonomic base.
