    ....and recommended, but I'd like some links for the assertion that the CDC is invested in classifying FMS as a psychosomatic disorder. Most of the studies I'm seeing are drug studies and most of the information I read about it tends to suggest that it is a nervous system disorder (which is different than psychosomatic).

      Reeves CFS and psychsomatic together you'll get some idea of what is meant. You'll find a lot of links to papers published by Reeves in the literature which view CFS and Fibromyalgia as psychosomatic disorders. A few scientists and doctors like Dr. Reeves have built their careers on promoting cognitive behavioural therapy and exercise as the be all and end all of treatment for these conditions. Wessely, a UK psychiatrist is another. They have been extremely influential in service delivery (or non delivery)and in research circles.  Nevertheless many scientists are doing terrific work in searching beyond the psychosomatic paradigm and certainly attitudes are changing for the better gradually. Two steps forward and one step back being the norm I guess.
