  •  If I understand what Hersh has (4.00)
    reported, the knowledge of Abu Ghraib and other torture sites was not limited to a small cadre of Guards and "intell" people.  Gen. Miller was specifically sent to Iraq from Guantanamo to encourage (institute?) these procedures.  Torture techniques continued to be employed after high level officers learned of what was going on at Abu Ghraib in 1/04.  Rice and Gonzales refused to answer the definition of torture questions posed to them in hearings which is probably a very good indication that it is ongoing.

    Systematic torture of prisoners may be less likely to remain hidden in a units that included draftees, and may only have surfaced as early as it did because this was a N. Guard unit and not an active duty unit.  Agree with you that a Special Forces unit would be even less likely to report on this than a regular unit.
