  •  Those "Legal Niceties" cost me $6500 (9+ / 0-)

    in federal taxes last year.
I pay for Domestic Partner benefits as income, straights don't...
    Shall I go on?

Over my lifetime, as a gay man, I will pay over $400,000 more in taxes than an equal straight man...

    Legal Niceties?
    uh... NO.

Illegal Discrimination and human rights violations... uh,  YES

What I mean is that what the bigots object to is your sex life, not your insurance policy.

doesn't work. There will always be an unspoken stigma to my relationship with my partner as being somehow "less than" that of a marriage between a man and a woman since I can't participate in the same institution and can't even call it by the same name as a straight relationship.

How, in this day and (supposedly "enlightened") age is "separate but equal" even considered to be an acceptable compromise? Would anyone put up with separate water fountains and pools and shit anymore? Why would anyone think that WE should? Have we learned nothing from history?

And hell, we don't even deserve to GET "separate but equal" as far as most of our politicians are concerned. (Case-in-point: Linda Lingle.)

Never has so much been taken from so many by so few for so long...
