  •  Do you remember which Republicans were in on it? (1+ / 0-)

That is, the Gang of 14?

The Republican seven included Lincoln Chafee, Mike DeWine and John Warner, all of whom are gone. The remaining four were Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins, who might possibly be expected to sometimes still be moderate (their recurring Lucy-and-football acts notwithstanding), and Lindsey Graham and John McCain.

    Good luck with McCain!

So who are your moderate Republicans you'll be able to count on to keep Republicans from doing whatever the hell they want on this next time?

remember feeling strongly at the time that I didn't want us to do what they tried to do to us. The filibuster does need to be put back to where senators need to work for it. I just don't want to get rid of it entirely. We will surely be the minority party again at some point and I want us to have that protection.

That the pool of moderate republicans is turning into more like a puddle, a very small puddle.
