  •  End the farm subsidies for corn (5+ / 0-)

and ban high-fructose corn syrup from all products, and you will see the obesity in this country start to drop.

You can't tell me that it isn't an issue as important as increasing exercise or not eating sugary snacks. HFCS is insidious. It's snuck into everything -- even foodstuffs that aren't sweet.

Get that crap out of our food supply. Then talk to me about childhood (or anyone's) obesity.

Of course, that won't happen, because the lobbyists won't allow their gravy train to end.

It's the first ingredient in most bbq sauce and salad dressing.

I think most people aren't aware how many food 'products' have HFCS in them.  Whole foods nutritionists are saying there's a link between the increase in corn syrup food additives and the increase in childhood diabetes.  The corn industry says there's no link.  Bill Maher rants about it, haha.

I have to go to the health food store to buy a can of beans without it.

If you want to learn more about this and be well entertained, rent "King Corn" a documentary made by two good-natured young college graduates who were looking for something interesting to do until they found jobs.

cycles that cannot be stopped except with great effort and going cold turkey.

I fasted for months and cleaned out all that crap and I have no more cravings for crap. On Halloween I thought, have some candy bars. I went on a week bender of HFCS candy. Very hard to get off it again. I proved it's addicting nature in my own body!
