  •  I ran into this sort of thing last week (5+ / 0-)

    An acquaintance was irate about how "Obama was going to cut health care for veterans." She went on to say that she heard about an Obama speech where he said that it's a volunteer army, the vets could take care of their own health care.

    So we proceeded to Google any semblance of these remarks, and lo and behold, the only reference we could find was a conservative veterans' group stirring the pot in the spring of 2009 with evocative lies.

    Her tone changed to, "Well if he said that, it's horrible..." I added that if Obama said he likes to broil and eat children, that would be horrible too. However, he said neither.

    The debunking is almost useless. These people want to believe terrible things about President Obama. Short of facts, they make it up, and grouse about some made up thing Obama said. Corrected, they move on to something else.

      faith that President Obama is evil and are accumulating the evidence that he is the anti-Christ.  Until they get all the evidence in, this kind of stuff will have to do.
