  •  I don't think so (0+ / 0-)

I don't think that's the reason Pres. Obama didn't come to campaign for Blanche Lincoln.  Her campaign was begging him to come, IIRC.

As for Nelson not changing his mind on the public option?  The President was the one who killed the public option, not Ben Nelson.

I live 100 miles from the Arkansas state line, have a lot of Democratic friends in Arkansas, and worked on the 2004 Arkansas Coordinated Campaign.  Barack Obama is NOT popular there, even among Democrats in the state who tend to be more conservative.  He got 39% of the vote in 2008, down from Kerry's 45% in 2004, in a year where Democrats improved in the vast majority of the country.  And in a state where all statewide offices are held by Democrats, albeit moderate/conservative Democrats.

Believe me, Blanche did not want him there and to suggest otherwise is laughable.  I know that's how my friends would react

      •  Then why did Pres Obama do TV ads (0+ / 0-)

and robocalls?  This was a primary, not the general.

Arkansas Senate Runoff: Obama Disengages From Race As Blanche Lincoln Slips In Polls

Aides won't go there on record, or even on background. But they don't correct the assertion that they've stepped back from the race. The evidence is obvious. Save a perfunctory, donate-to-Blanche-email signed on June 2 by Vice President Joseph Biden, the type of formal campaigning that team Obama rolled out prior to the first vote (with radio ads and robocalls) has been completely non-existent.

        •  He did these ads and robocalls specifically (0+ / 0-)

for the African-American community.  In particular, of the 9 counties (out of 75) won by Barack Obama in 2008, Lincoln won 8.  These counties have relatively large African-American populations.

Come down here -- we can show you what the situation actually is, as opposed to what those who never come here assume
