back up for a vote, and watch what happens.  I'm convinced that's how Dems and Obama could get their mojo back.  Offer something truly democratic, unsullied by Repub amendments.  Then ram it through, and you'll earn respect from all parties.

a Blew Dog or two, you still have "The Republicans blocked what you wanted" going for you. And as a stand-alone, there would be no confusion in media treatments about what the bill is.

    •  Are you insane? HCR is what buried the Dems (0+ / 0-)

this year. All that attention on a bill that had nothing to do with jobs or the economy is what's responsible for Obama's 25 point drop in job approval.

through November will turn the entire political landscape 180 degrees.  President Obama and the Democrats had to play DEFENSE for many months in order to pass health care reform that presidents since Teddy Roosevelt have been attempting.]

When you play defense, you become the target.  That's what drove his and other Democrat numbers down  All that changes on Labor Day when Democrats launch their offensive, and every Republican candidate accross the Country will be wearing the target "Kick Me OUT; I destroyed your economy!" both front and back.

Read Teixeira's 2010 report, and see why the GOP is done.

        •  "had to play defense?" Why? That's all Dems EVER (0+ / 0-)

do is play defense. It's why Kerry and Gore lost. The only reason Obama won by 7 is that the worst economic crisis since the Depression hit at just the right time for him. The polls were even going into September 2008. Dems are risk averse and stupid, a bad combination.

Gibbs told the truth - maybe in a sneaky way to energize the base... Pelosi lost it-maybe in a sneaky way to energize the base.

It is the 'enthusiasm' gap that is going to sweep the R's into the House, but probably not the Senate (I say right now the Dems lose 7).

Obama has lost very many of the independents that he had in 08... 3 months to get them back? doubt it.

bill, according to Reid. 70% of the American people want the Public Option. That we dropped that, then adjourned before the August of the Teabagger was the thing which did it in.

If the PO had been passed, things would be much different now on the political landscape. We can still pass it if we weren't stupid.

goddam health care bill! J-O-B-S! That's what's needed. Action on creating jobs! Christ, nobody cares about anything else, and it's the one thing Obama HASN'T been talking about! It's insane!

Polling has shown that HCR is steadily gaining in popularity. Which is to be expected since many popular provisions are going into effect now, while death panels are nowhere to be seen.

All of the anxiety and worry that the GOP ginned up during the debate is evaporating. I expect Democrats to be campaigning on it by November, while reminding voters who opposed it every step of the way and want to repeal it if they take back power.

        •  HCR is a little more popular than it was, when (0+ / 0-)

people think about it, which is never, unless a pollster asks them. IT'S THE ECONOMY. JOBS! Obama ignored (or was perceived to be ignoring, it doesn't really matter which) unemployment for over a year. He led the party off a cliff.
