    and the enthusiasm gap as a predictive metric probably has much less significance in 2010 than it has in normal mid-terms.  Why?  Having lost one's job, home, and/or life savings can have a profound effect on one's enthusiasm in general, and voting in an upcoming election would not be an exception.

    But those who lost their jobs, homes and life savings, and those who risk losing those valuable parts of oneself have other more motivating reasons to get to the polls this fall.

    Fear of the above and of a return to the Bush era will likely far outweigh enthusiasm as a predictor for who votes on November 2nd, and that spells trouble for Republicans.
