    •  His speech was beautiful and it changed (13+ / 0-)

my husband's mind. Two weeks ago someone sent us an email about the protest about the Mosque and how they weren't really being covered by the MSM, which in itself is not true. My husband sympatized with the protester of the Mosque, saying how it should not be allowed, and some sensible Muslim holy man should talk some sense into these folks. I held my ground and kept telling him Islam is a religion, and they can build the Mosque where ever it is protected by the Constitution and freedom of religion. Our debate continued until today when I forced him to watch the President's remarks at the White House last night. The President articulated perfectly everything I was trying to say to him, and he got it. He still thinks it is not a great idea, but understands why it is wrong to stop it.  I realized the problem with most people today is they don't listen to whatever this President has to say, is it because they are racist? Or is it because the right and Fox news has had a non-stop agenda to bash him and criticize him about everything? It is like they do all the time with the big lie, repeat it often enough and people think it is true, just because they heard it so many times before.
If people would only shut up and listen, they just might learn something. My husband did and he is better for it and so is the rest of the world.

which is why I was disappointed in today's seemed contradictory to me...

Muslims have done great things...but I am unwilling to take a position on the wisdom of building a mosque in downtown Manhattan.
