    If all you care about is this quarters profits -- and all too many companies are very short sighted, then sure.

    On the other hand, if you care about long term profitability then ethics and responsibility are key.

    Game theory shows this.  In a single encounter game, vicous self interest wins, but if the game is going to involve multiple interactions, cooperation and honest dealing maximizes results in the long run.
