    Regardless of the composition of the new government, it will be an Iraqi government - not a US "puppet regime".

    Do you know that to be an indisputable fact?

    For the Iraqis, that is a profound distinction.

    It sure is.

    You can't erase the idea of democracy.

    But, you can expect a real and fair democractic process and government. This election can't be held up as an example of either.

      No.  But I don't think that the Iraqi people will put up with puppets.  As far as "real and fair", it is definitely real.  Last reports I saw indicate reasonable turnout all over the country - even in Sunni [central] areas.  It is as "fair" as could be expected on 31 January 2005.
