Hooray for incremental change! Sorry for either not cheering loud enough or not keeping my mouth shut or whatever.

    •  i agree with you bluesteeel. NOT a bfd (0+ / 0-)

a big fucking deal would be news that fucking morons stopped breaking the law by frying their brains with coke of any kind

i'm sorry, but i just don't fucking give a fuck about people who do illegal drugs and get caught

      i really don't

people who do drugs are financing the worst perpetrators of evil on this planet including terrorists

don't be a fucking moron and you won't go to jail at all

      •  correction (0+ / 0-)

don't be a fucking moron who does coke and you won't go to jail for it at all

        •  of course i am serious (0+ / 0-)

not everyone who is a liberal thinks drugs are cool

while i think doing drugs is about as stupid as going to a charismatic church... that doesn't piss me off... people want to be fucking morons whatever

what pisses me off is who they buy their shit from

that is the moral crime in my opinion

i think they deserve some punishment for that

          •  but again (0+ / 0-)

this change is good because at least it makes the punishments more fair

          •  I don't think drugs are cool (0+ / 0-)

but I do think the drug war is all kinds of wrong.

            •  the war on pot is bullshit (0+ / 0-)

but coke and meth and the other fucked up shit that turns people into homeless bums on the street is evil and the people who make it and sell are evil people

the people who buy it are not evil but they are committing a crime and they deserve punishment

but fair punishment that fits the crime

and no breaks for being white and rich

              •  evil people (0+ / 0-)

just to be clear... i consider people who take destroy other people to get what they want evil

so, child molestors, date rapists, coke dealers, people who trick people into buying adjustable rate mortgages are evil people in my book

sides of this; crack dealers and users and powder dealers and users.  Your view seems to be that all drug users should be subject to long imprisonment without any consideration for the degree of evil in the conduct.  If you get pulled for speeding (in a world which you make the laws), undoubtedly immoral and dangerous to the extent it increases risks to others riding on the same road and causes deaths and bodliy harm at a rate higher than drug users, you (from your perspective) should get several years in prison.  I think dealing drugs is worse than speeding but your approach seems to make no distinction.  I find your view both immoral and wrong.  I hope you never end up in a world where all crimes are viewed equally.

            •  whoa (0+ / 0-)

i didn't say anything about drug crimes all being treated equally

            •  speeding (0+ / 0-)

i absolutely think that speeding should garner more punishment than drug use crimes!

obviously the amount of danger caused by the speeding should be taken into consideration

there's obviously a difference between going 10 mph over in the middle of the night on the freeway and going 40 mph over in a school zone when kids are around

i moved away from a big city because of the traffic

when i heard about a group of local parents who's kids had been killed walking across the crosswalk on the way home from school by speeding drivers

there was an actual group there were so many of them

that i hardly know where to began

you are wrong about the the dynamics of crime punishment and drug use

i could write several books in response to you but will encourage you to read any and all of the Crimnal InJustice Kos series diaries, including the one linked inthis diary

from you previou postings here i know that youa re not mean-spuriretd or nalicious but your comments in this thread are so far off the mark that they read that way

please try to explore this subject further

right now i am looking at foster children to potentially adopt and do you know what the number one reason for foster children is?  take a wild stab.

kids get physically abused, neglected, molested, pimped out, beat to death, etc and all because mommy and/or daddy care more about getting fucked up then they do about their own kids

you know... i am more compassionate toward drug users then i let on above but i don't want to show it around here because i know that plenty of people on the left are abusing drugs and it makes me angry

i am angry because they judge without mercy anyone who doesn't have the 'integrity' to do what they think is just but at the same time they are bankrolling the worst kind of monsters on the planet

maybe they don't know.  maybe they just haven't heard about where their drugs come from.  they know not to buy from target or walmart because those people are evil.  but they have no problem buying drugs from the same people who commit murder and rape and actually enslave people and it all just ok because drugs make them feel so good

they make me sick to my stomach.  i know what drugs do to the families of people who just want to feel good.  they destroy them.

i still remember my wife finding out from work at the pharmacy that the pharmacist had been robbed again.  tied up in telephone wire.  gun to his head the whole time.  didn't know if this time he was going to live or die.

and my friend who was so fucking high he went car surfing on the freeway.  lucky to have survived.

my older brother who's friend de-capitated himself on his motorcycle before school started.

my younger adopted sister who was left alone for days as a new born baby repeatedly because her mom and dad were fucking high

who grew up to be beaten and raped by her ex boyfriend because he was high

you know... i'm not mis informed at all

i just lived close to the destruction and i am angry about it

and i'm not fucking cheering about drugs unless it's about people getting off of them

and the criminals won't be involved in it. the presence of organized crime is a function of prohibition, if you outlawed butter they'd be right there selling and distributing it..

I try buying local as much as possible, but really, what are people supposed to do, given that the government has decided that particular forms of enjoyment are verboten?
