    I think it was the brashness, the unapologetic confidence he had that opened my eyes to the possibility that I wasn’t some isolated outcast but a member of a society where there were others like me.

    We are not alone, we are not societal outcasts--though there are many who would wish us so.

    There are more out there than we think--many who can't quite buy what they religion or church is telling them, but who don't "hear the message" about something else being available.  Something that doesn't make you evil, or remove your moral compass, but something which can set you free to be a full human being, living life as it is, not as you think it should be to win the prize after you are gone from this earth.
