Tax the carbon extractors.  Their profits are HUGE.

Use the revenue to build a new energy infrastructure and energy sources.

    The Carbon Conversion Tax

    Convert to green.

You don't think that they won't just pass the costs onto the consumer?

It would put the round robin on our side.

If we pay more, they make more profit, we tax the profit.

We need to wear them down and make them spend their profits on the transition one way or the other.

        •  How would you stop them from raising costs? (1+ / 0-)

          you can't, not really.

Just like the banks are finding creative ways to raise revenue after losing the ability to charge outrageous rates for overdrawn accounts.

Let's do it just like the shit out of energy at the consumer level to get people to conserve.  As long as we are buying the gas and air conditioning our homes the energy companies are going to make a shitload of profit.

You're saying that this isn't about taxing consumers.

But don't proponents of a Carbon Tax, Cap and Trade, or this Tax on Carbon Producers, don't they all seek lower carbon usage in the US?

And don't they all believe that you'll achieve this via higher energy prices?

If so, how can you argue that this isn't about taxing consumers?
