  •  The Cherokee are (were?) an incredible culture. (5+ / 0-)

I'm proud of being from Ga for being a home of the Cherokee.  Five nations, right?  I wish we had lived peaceably with them.  Imagine how much richer our culture would be.  How much they would be leading with environmental issues, for just one example, from understanding the land here, the needs of the earth.  This is all too sad to contemplate.  Without commiserating with those sensitive enough to feel it, it would be infinitely more painful.

Anyway, that's what language is about, right?  Communicating.  Connecting.  That's why most of us writers love words.  We love to connect.

Well, the sons and daughters will just have to express themselves with confidence in their new language, carrying within them the memories of the old ones.  Is there another choice?

    Don't believe everything you think.
