  •  New Deal jobs as govt expense? (5+ / 0-)

Wait until a flu or virus hits homeless encampments of thousands or tens of thousands of people.  Then you will have a real government expense.  So if people want to argue about the expense of creating New Deal jobs, wait until a public emergency occurs for all of the unemployed who will be in the streets starting in 4-6 weeks.

People took in Katrina refugees but no similar effort is being made to house or shelter the economic tsunami refugges, or, better yet, to prevent this wave from hitting the shore next month.

    •  I've thought about this too (3+ / 0-)

Especially the idea of taking in economic refugees. While there are a lot of people hurting plenty, there are those who are holding fine. Both my sisters are there, both are empty nesters. I think there are 'a few' more in that situation.

What I am also wondering is who the hell decided to make Timmeh the lead spokesman on the economy for the midterms?

Don't we have a Democratic equivalent of Luntz to check these ideas out on focus groups?

Do we want to remind the moderates and independents that the Senate approved a guy for Treasury who had made mistakes on his taxes and used to work for Goldman Saks?

That was not a winning idea.
