    The U.S. is the poster child for lack of improvement in maternal and neonatal death rates compared to the rest of the developed world.  It's what happens when sectarian religious beliefs trump science to the detriment of women and children (and the men who love them) generally.

    When considering cost, it is important to include cost of insurance in providing coverage, not just the out-of-pocket cost to the consumer.  Insurance companies are middle men that add to the cost of drugs rather than make them cheaper.

    I remember when the contraceptive pill came out.  After having 3 children in 4 years, being able to take a pill in the morning was a big relief to me.  I had no more calendar anxiety and my general health improved.
