      Roberts and Alito have been particularly obvious in their outright refusals to follow the law when it conflicts with their morality.  Indeed, they too often don't even bother to discuss it.  The most recent case in point as far as Justice Alito goes is his extremely recent dissent in Christian Legal Society v. Martinez, which upheld UC Hastings College of the Law's denial of recognition to a chapter of CLS because its charter violated the school's anti-discrimination policies.

      The man wrote for 20 pages and cited the law less than I've seen from a judge in a long, long time.  He didn't even try.  He in fact largely violated a fundamental rule of appellate review - he spent all his time saying that the trial court had gotten the facts wrong therefore the conclusion MUST be wrong.

      IMO, Scalia is the most likely conservative vote in favor of gay marriage, just because he has previously boxed himself in a corner on that very issue using legal analysis.
