    where they can learn about knots and camping and things like that without having to be concerned with who is going to hook up with whom?

    This diary really reads like a solution in search of a problem.  There are already the Girl Scouts, and if they want to become a more outdoors oriented organization, they can.

      between Boy and Girl Scout troops -- maintain the original structure, but come together to work on projects and go on trips. Boys end up learning to respect the girl leaders (or else!), which sets a good standard for later in life when those dudes may have women bosses.

      We were plenty outdoor oriented when I was in Scouts, but of course being in California probably had a lot to do with that. We did frequent camping expeditions, and I've seen troops out doing park cleanups and the like once in a while. It's not all sitting around sewing on samplers and selling cookies.
