  •  The problem is Dems have failed Hispanics (1+ / 0-)

Obama has actually lost Hispanic support in recent months according to polls.

Not only are they unhappy that absolutely nothing has been done as far as immigration reform, they have been even harder hit by the economy and the crappy job market.

So, if you wanted to counter King's tactic of using illegal immigration as a way to fire up the Repub voters, you would need something better than what the Dems have been doing.  Their performance these past 2 years is not exactly the way to get out an enthusiastic vote in a block of voters who overwhelmingly voted Dem in the past 2 elections.

    •  but isn't "everyone" in the same boat as (0+ / 0-)

the hispanics?. They have been hit hard by the economy but so too is almost everyone esle...though they are in  a tougher spot because their "jobs" are the easily "dispensable" ones.
As for Obama losing support, well he has lost almost everywhere with every group.
-But that is not Obama's fault. It's the worst economy in 70 yrs. There is no magic wand here. Obama has actually archeived a lot, more than any presedient in the past 50 yrs in 20 months (in terms of ground breaking legislation)
-But until the economy recovers these archeivements would be tepid.
-Immigration is on the agenda, but I doubt if it would pass...and if it doesn't Hispanic support may remain anemic...but still Obama had no choice to do the things he had to do first.
-Faced with a GOP bent on NO on everything, Obama has to priorities his fights.
