    But I'm not sure if that's all that's responsible for the tremendous employment numbers in Nebraska, which is still at around 5% statewide.

    Something's working.

    We need to focus on what's working and do more of it.

    And by that, I don't mean we all become farmers...

      a well educated workforce, with a strong work ethic, liveable cities, and a diverse economic base.

      That's what works. That's what we need more of.

          massive snow every year, temps that might spend months below freezing, tend to scare away all but the most hardy.

          Besides that, it's not looked at as a 'cool' place to live. All it would take is a few mega celebrities to decide to move there, or a network to put a major news studio there, and suddenly it would be a hot spot.
